Young London Matters (YLM) is a partnership initiative and a London approach to Every Child Matters.
It is about tackling London's deep-seated problems so that some of the most vulnerable young people in the capital can be supported to achieve their potential.
Young London Matters is led by Government Office for London in close partnership with London’s local authorities, London Councils, the Greater London Authority, NHS London, Capital Ambition, London Challenge, NCVCCO and other key voluntary and community organisations in London.
Announced by the Prime Minister on 4 April 2006 as part of the package of measures flowing from Building on Success: London’s Challenge For 2012, YLM was launched by Beverley Hughes Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families in October 2006.
The Young London Matters Strands
Action by Young London Matters is delivered through distinct strands, which focus on issues that are particularly important for London:
Each YLM Strand is chaired by an expert from one of YLM's partner organisations and made up of experts from across the region.
YLM has delivered a wide range of pilots, publications, events and other resources to support children's policy makers and practitioners in London. These resources can be found in our YLM Resource Centre.
