Safeguarding and Social Care

Government Office for London (GOL) works in collaboration with the London Safeguarding Children Board to support the safeguarding of children and young people in London. See the London Child Protection Procedures.

The Safeguarding Advisers work closely with the Board Manager to support Local Safeguarding Children Boards, London Directors of Children's Services and their staff and agencies with safeguarding responsibilities.

Children’s Services Advisers and Safeguarding Advisers have been holding Safeguarding & Social Care meetings with each of the 33 Local Authorities, as part of the annual strategic engagement cycle between GOL and local authority children’s services. The meetings are an opportunity to have a focussed and in depth discussion, review emerging social care data, and pick up on any specific issues.

GOL held an event on 4 July for LSCBs looking at Serious Case Reviews, with speakers from DCSF, GOL, Ofsted and a Local Safeguarding Children Board.
