London Children’s Services Week (Day 3)

The London Children in Care Network, comprising of London boroughs, was established in September 2008 by Young London Matters to:
- share expertise, experience and knowledge
- co-ordinate activity, dissemination of good practice and lobbying pan-London
- ensure strong social care grip on Care Matters agenda across London
- provide a peer network for borough leads on care services to complement existing networks (London IRO Managers, Leaving Care Managers, Education Protects).
This is the network’s first meeting of 2009 and will cover:
• London Pledge for Children & Young People in Care – including local implementation (including young people’s involvement), monitoring and evaluation
• Regional Care Matters implementation – including Care Matters Action Log, regional priorities
• Support to boroughs – including Care Matters seminar series:
- Effective prevention (Date tbc)
- Thresholds\ Court Processes (25 Mar 09)
- Social Work Tools (20 May 09)

The network meets 3 times per year. It is chaired by Helen Lincoln, Head of Social Care and Youth Inclusion, LB Merton and managed by Mike Scott (London Councils / GOL).
