Virtual School Head for children in care

The DCFS guidance on the education of children in care was revised in May 2009 this includes the recommendation that Local Authorities appoint a Virtual School Head for children in care. As a result the Government Office for London (GOL) has developed initiatives to effectively implement strategies that support the work of Virtual School Heads. These areas of work have focussed on two key areas:
• Developing a Pan London Personal Education Plan (PEP)
• Developing training resources for foster carers, social workers and designated teachers
