• The borough has some areas of deprivation and higher under-18 conceptions, although the relationship between the two not as strong as in other areas.
• There is a good spread of community contraceptive clinics across the borough and throughout the week. Some afternoon and evening clinics. Majority are appointment only. It appears that all methods are available.
• Two young people’s clinics per week, both located in high teenage pregnancy rate areas and at convenient times for young people in education.
• 1 central GUM service, open mornings only, other than young people’s clinic which is open in the afternoon.
• All clinical services provide pregnancy testing and referral to abortion or ante natal care.
• EHC in pharmacy scheme.
• Condoms are available from one young people’s sexual health advice service and community contraceptive services, but there is no comprehensive condom distribution scheme.
Suggestions for future developments
• Consider the development of a condom distribution scheme and distribution of condoms across a range of settings accessed by young people
