Improving children and young people’s access to services that support their emotional and mental health
The issue of Emotional Health and Well Being (EHWB) is now firmly on the London map. The £60m investment DCSF Targeted Mental Health Pathfinders, a growing recognition of its impact on broader outcomes, focus on this issue by Young London Matters and the introduction of a new PSA for Emotional Health and Well Being have all served to heighten the profile of this important issue.
Young London Matters has contributed to moving this agenda forward by bringing together a wide cross-section of stakeholders to develop a work programme that aims, in the long-term, to improve the access children, young people and their parents/carers have to quality and timely support and services for their emotional well-being and mental health. The group has delivered a report in partnership with the Thomas Corum Research Unit (TCRU) The Emotional Well-being and Mental Health of Young Londoners – a Focused Review of Evidence (download the report on the right). It has also supported EHWB Scoping Studies in Hackney, Haringey and Greenwich and these sit alongside the DCSF Targeted Mental Health Pilots.
