Networks

A range of children’s services related professional networks and groups exist in London facilitated, developed and supported by a wide range of organisations including the Government Office. As well as providing support for certain groups, GOL works closely with key partners to ensure synergies are maintained and developed. The development and support for these networks help to ensure that groups of professionals:

  • Benefit from peer support and learning.
  • Are informed about policy developments in their area.
  • Contribute to regional policy development.
  • Identify solutions to commonly identified barriers and risks
  • Identify, disseminate and pilot good practice.

In relation to children's services, GOL supports 2 kinds of networks:

Professional Network Groups

Professional network groups directly facilitated by GOL have the principle aim of supporting the implementation of a particular strand of Government policy or a key policy area where GOL is driving improvement. GOL also supports a number of related self-managing networks by providing meeting facilities and attending network meetings for information exchange.

Practice Development Groups

Practice development groups are time-limited research and study groups where, in collaboration with key partner organisations and with the help of experts in the field, groups of professionals tackle a specific issue identified through the annual performance assessment process.
