The Department for Children, Schools and Families has now begun their search for 25 children and young people aged between 8 to 18 to form the Children and Youth Board 2009-2011.
The two year Board will take on the role of advising Ministers and policy officials on the development of policy and practice that affects children and young people in England.
The Department wishes to recruit children and young people of all backgrounds across the nine government regions of England. Applicants do not need previous experience of taking part in similar projects, just a lot of enthusiasm and a keen interest in working as part of a team to influence decisions that affect children and young people.
This is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to gain knowledge of how government and policy works. Through their involvement they will learn new skills such as team work, gathering the views of their peers and communicating with decision makers in government.
The National Children’s Bureau has been commissioned to coordinate the Children and Youth Board 2009-2011. Download an application pack from the NCB Website. The application pack includes:
• Application Form
• Information about the Board for young people
• Information about the Board for support workers
• Information about DCSF and NCB
The applications deadline is Monday 29 June, 10am.
If you would like to receive a hard copy of the application pack in the post and/or have any questions about the Board, please contact:
