Overview:
Many schools in the UK struggle to deliver a consistent and effective programme of SRE. This resource aims to enhance existing provision and complement local work by providing London with:
• A consistent evidence-based approach to the delivery of Sex and Relationships Education.
• Good quality education to all pupils, particularly those who are geographically mobile.
• A programme of study that is cohesive and spirals from Foundation Stage to post-16.
The resource represents an amalgamation of good practice found across London. A tailor-made curriculum that will empower schools, teachers and governors to meet the SRE needs of children and young people and reflects the recommendations from the Government’s response to the Report by the Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) Review Steering Group which agreed to make PSHE statutory, underpinned by a programme of study that sets out a common core of knowledge and skills that all young people should be taught.
