Key Strengths:
• Service overall rated as ‘Good’ by Joint Area Review (JAR) inspection
• Good progress made in improvements to Youth and YOT services
• Further strengthening of partnerships achieved and significant progress made towards the implementation of Children’s Trust arrangements
• Substantial progress achieved towards the implementation of the child concern model and Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
• Good progress in reducing numbers of young people who are not in education, employment and training
• Children and young people’s involvement systematically used to challenge existing services and plan for improvements
• Schools achieved the second highest KS2-KS4 value added scores in the country
o Over 50% of Hackney pupils achieved 5 good GCSEs (a 62% improvement on the 2002 results)
• A second city academy opened in September 2006
• Youth Service mobile provision – the ‘Purple Bus’ was nominated for national awards in 2007.
